Even in war, hope can be found.
Nine-year-old Anya and her family lived in Cherkasy, Ukraine, when the war began. As the sounds of explosions filled the air, fear gripped their home. Terrified, her parents would lock the doors, gather their children in the bathroom, and pray for safety – sometimes for hours at a time.
When the danger became too great, they made the difficult decision to leave, relocating to a nearby village. It was there that Anya and her younger sister found something unexpected – hope.
They joined a Tomorrow Club, where they learned about God’s love and faithfulness. The lessons they absorbed each week weren’t just for them – they eagerly shared everything they were learning with their parents. Slowly, something changed in their family.
Anya’s mother was the first to start attending church. Then, her father followed. In time, both gave their lives to Christ and were baptized. What began as a terrifying journey of survival became a story of faith and redemption.

Today, Anya dreams of becoming a doctor and prays daily for peace in Ukraine.
“My prayer is that the war would end,” she says. “I wish everyone would believe in God and glorify Him – maybe then the war will stop.”
Her words are a powerful reminder of why we keep going, even in the hardest places – to bring hope and healing where needed most.
